Maintain Good Diet
Your body needs a balanced diet to attain maximum health. A diet full of both macronutrients and micronutrients in adequate amounts is necessary. So, do not forget to include some vegetables in your diet. Oil is necessary, do not try to exclude it, but you need to use it less. Without good nutrition, will help you fight disease, infection, fatigue, and poor performance. Poor diet runs the risk of growth and developmental problems and poor work performance, and bad eating habits can persist for the rest of their lives.
Detoxify Your Body-
Day by day we humans are developing new unhealthy lifestyles. The most obvious one is alcoholic habits. This is the oldest and unwelcome habit of humans. Chemical containing packed food items, cold drinks, zero physical activity, and all this leading to stress and other mental problems. Give your body a boost and refreshment from the failed metabolic system that you have developed. According to Ayurveda, detoxification is the process of resting, cleansing, and nourishing the body. Read more about detoxification in our previous post on detoxification.
Have a Sound Sleep-
I know that most of you who are reading some more articles related to other health issues have read the suggestion to sleep better. Yes, but it is so important that you should do so. This is a fundamental requirement of the human body, it recovers your body after a long work. Also, it optimizes your body for upcoming tasks. I would suggest having a cool temperature in the room in which you are sleeping so that you do not wake up in between due to heat and sweat.
Yoga to Release Stress-
Pranayamas are breathing exercises in yoga where you train your lungs to breathe deep. When you are in stress or tension you start to breathe fast and not deep. Through pranayamas, you will train yourself to breathe deep and supply your body better with oxygen. Bhramari Pranayama is best for releasing anger, tension and sorrow.
Asanas ( Postures) in yoga to reduce stress-
Have a Laugh-
Laughter releases endorphins – often referred to as “feel-good hormones”. This hormone decreases pain and gives a feeling of pleasure. I would suggest you read some comics or watch a comedy show. If you are from India you can revisit some all-time favourites like 3-idiots.
Avoid Caffeine and Drink Tea-
Caffeine increases your blood pressure and when consumed in large quantities it leads to over function of hypothalamic, pituitary and adrenal glands. Instead of coffee and other caffeine-containing drinks, try green tea. It has less caffeine than coffee and contains antioxidants, theanine, an amino acid that has a calming effect on the nervous system.
Do some exercise-
Do not do a lot of exercises if you cannot, but you should do it. While doing your work, take some stretching breaks. At least do a full workout for 10 minutes a day. It will not only increase your physical health but will also reduce your stress by increasing blood circulation. As discussed earlier stress leads to over function of hypothalamic, pituitary and adrenal gland. Exercise will help you metabolize these hormones faster and will make you feel good and inspired again.
Talk with family and friends-
Sharing your thoughts and problems with the people you trust will help you reduce the effort you need to put over to solve a problem. So, discuss your problems with elderly people who are more experienced than you do. Have their point of view, it will also help you to make a better decision. If the problem is personal then you can talk on different topics of common interests. This will distract you from the problem and will give you time to relax your body and mind.
Read some books-
I know that the world is digital now. You will get amazing documentaries in the form of videos but it cannot replace a book ever. This is because every intellectual cannot make a good documentary on everything but every intellectual is able to write a book. Also, our adult generation who have a lot of knowledge and cannot cope with the digital world are writing books. Have a habit of reading books about the subject you are currently working on.
Listen to music-
Art is something which is admired by all. Music is such an art that can boost any emotion depending upon the emotion of the song or instrumental. For example, in a movie some songs make you laugh, others make you cry, some fill the excitement inside of you. Just pick a song, opposite to your mood which is making you feel stressed. You will definitely thank it later.
Meet a Psychiatrist
This is the last thing one can do if you do not feel better with all the above tips. Yes, this is a mental health condition so you need to go to a Psychiatrist for the treatment.
