Ahrefs’ Study on how long to rank on google

So, obviously not everyone can be there for any given search only 10 articles or pages can rank in that top 10. Based on Ahrefs’ study of over two million random keywords by Ahrefs. They found that the average top 10 ranking page is at least 2 years old. Those that ranked in position #1 are almost three years old on average.

Do not lose hope though 22% of pages that currently rank in the top 10 were created within one year.

Were they lucky?

The answer is no  because the reason they got to the Top10 in less than a year is most likely hard work and great knowledge of SEO, not luck.

So, how google ranks websites?

How does Google decide which few documents I really want?

By asking questions; more than two hundred of them. Like:

  • How many times does this page contain your keywords?
  • Do the words appear in the title? In the URL (web address)?
  • Do the words appear directly adjacent?
  • Does the page include synonyms for those words?
  • Is this page from a quality website? Or is it low quality, even spammy? What is this page’s PageRank? That’s a formula invented  by our founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, that rates a web page’s importance by looking at how many outside links point to it, and how important those links are.

All these points are official by google.
